We depart Lisbon for Queluz, home to the national palace that still provides accommodations to heads of state. This palace has wonderful formal gardens and rooms that are patterned after Versailles. After a visit here we’ll continue on to Sintra.
Sintra has long been noted for the beauty of its countryside. Once called a “Glorious Eden” by Lord Byron, this area was at one time the resort of the Portuguese Kings. You can visit the Pena Palace or Palace Nacional, You’ll have some time to explore the streets of the old town before we return to Lisbon.
