We depart Lisbon for Queluz, home to the national palace that still provides accommodations to heads of state. This palace has wonderful formal gardens and rooms that are patterned after Versailles. After a visit here we’ll continue on to Sintra.
Sintra has long been noted for the beauty of its countryside. Once called a “Glorious Eden” by Lord Byron, this area was at one time the resort of the Portuguese Kings. Possible visit to Pena Palace or to the Palace Nacional. We’ll have time for lunch here at either a typical restaurant or at the Palace of Seteais.
Later we’ll drive out to Cabo da Rocha, the rocky seaside and we return to Lisbon through Estoril & Cascais.
